I've been buying Pro Evo ever since the first one came out but after several hours in edit mode
on the xbox 360 version with updating the names, kits and no german teams, I'm tempted to buy Fifa when it comes out in october.
Anybody else feeling this frustration that your tempted to try the Fifa series instead ?

im the same mate, i bought all the pro evos up until 2009. I havent played 2009 at all , fifa 08 tempted me but fifa 09 has fully converted me. If konami bring out a good game again i'll consider ti but as far as im concerned i wated 50 quid on a pile of crap for pes 2009 and the need to earn their status back not just expect people to buy it

I've been reading some reviews on the new Fifa 2010 and it seems really good, Allof the european leagues are in it with proper kits, badges, player names etc and compared to the last 2 versions of Pro Evo (which only had 17 or 19 stadiums) Fifa will have around 50+ but I'm just wondering what the game play will be like, I've played Fifa 08 on the ps3 and it seemed abit slow compared to Pro Evo, How was the speed on Fifa 09 ?

fifa 09 plays really well. takes some getting used to after playing pro for so long, but its really good. it allows you to use tactics but nowhere near as much as pro evo, im hoping fifa 2010 will incorporate more of that as thats the only part where pro evo is still boss

that being said, i really hope pro evo steps up to the plate for this verison, i felt so cheated after wasting 50 quid on 2009 that u said i would never buy another one as long as they keep taking the P**s

bein honest both are quite poor and neither have changed much for the last couple of years so they both probably be very similar to this years games.

NumberNine, I'll be honest here with my answer, Without all the trimmings like the real kits and player names etc, It would just look xxx!
The more detailing there is the better it is in my opinion.
Would you pay 50 odd quid for a game like "sensible soccer" knowing that there isn't anything like real names, kits etc ?

I've found FIFA09 to be very frustrating. The lack of control on the ball and the fact that tackles are very difficult to avoid, plus a few major bugs, have seen me close to throwing the controller against a wall a few times. The number of times I've been clean through but only to be brought down by a professional foul that wasn't given.
Then there's the bug where the AI doesn't recognise that you've just flicked the ball forward with the right stick to run past a player and are therefore still technically in possession of it, when your player is then flattened and nothing is given.
And, of course you have the restrictive 8-way movement. Thankfully EA have listened to the players and have at least made ball control more intuitive and introduced 360 degree movement in FIFA10. I'll play the demo first before deciding whether it's worth forking out another £40.

I've been keeping an eye on the updates for both games, PES looks the way it has been for the past 3 years but Fifa actually looks good, Fifa will have the 360 degrees movement whereas PES are removing theres after only 2 years.
I've already pre ordered Fifa 2010.

Thats not actually true as PES will be adding 360degree movement for the first time

Fifa 09 is the first Fifa game I've truly enjoyed since World Cup 98.Pro Evo well and truly dropped the ball last year and Fifa went back to a more playable title which is why a lot of Pro Evo fans (myself included) went with Fifa again.
10 doesn't look like such a massive advance though and Fifa will always be flawed considering EA are behind it with their poor servers and even worse customer service. If they invested just a tiny percentage of the truckloads of cash they fleece out of us with every game EA release into a more stable server and updating stats and patches on a reguilar basis (and not like the Jan transfer window taking months) there would be very little reason to buy a Pro Evo title ever again

this depends on personal choice, i was fifa through and through, then bought pro evo 7, and was converted, but now i'm back to fifa, as i get tired of not having official kits, team names, player names etc, i know fifa has probs, but i have never had any probs playin online, no loss of connection, evo is more fluent but it is a waste of cash imo, i like the ultimate add on in xbox360, that is fun

Fifa would be awesome if when you make transfers in exhibtion you can put the players straight in, like in pro evo, also be good if fifa included the BSP seeing as Oxford(my team) and luton and other former teams are there.

PRO IS BETTER WITHOUT A DOUBT
i agree fifa is closing the gap, but when playint it you just dont feel fully in control of the ball, but when passing and shooting in pro u know your controlling where the ball is going (and the game is wonderful at making the pass/shot dependent on that players skilss as well as position on pitch and distance to opponent)
on fifa everyone seems to be able to pass the ball no matter what their ability or the direction they are facing- bit unrealistic
