Rugby - NFL has too many breaks and the rules are a lot more complicated. Plus there's two types of rugby to choose from.![]()

Many I've spoken to say the same about NFL, and I find it complicated as well some of my mates at uni who watch american sports, though admittedly they do enjoy it. And Rugby is very often not boring IMO.

Rugby has very little depth, it is terribly boring. The general concept of the actual gameplay of NFL is extremely simple, move the ball down the field to the endzone where it gets complicated is how you do it and the role of each player on the field, but that is what I mean by depth it is a fantastic tactical game and extremely exciting.

Little depth? There's loads of ways of scoring in rugby through various different tactics. Maybe I haven't watched enough NFL to really appreciate it but I still find Rugby more exciting to watch. Every sport has its boring moments, especially football yet look how popular that is.![]()

NFL is really exciting, I think the way the league is structured lends itself to great spectacle I really think the American's get it right every time when producing a sporting package based on parity, spectacle and showcasing homegrown talent.

Most Rugby players watch American Football, they are completely different sports though but there are things which both can take from each other. NFL players are far more athletic than rugby players.

rugby union is better in my opinion. nfl just seems pointless and takes far too long.

thats your opinion. what i dont get is why you start a thread asking people which sport is better when all you do is shout them down if they prefer rugby?
i think nfl is absolute rubbish apart from the odd big hit. i bet the majorty of the players are/have taken steroids. rugby is a much more skillfull game with more variety in its play. thats my opinion.

Completely agree, i dont know why he's doing that either.
As someone who watches nfl (steelers fan)and only occasional rugby (i watch england play in every sport), i do prefer nfl.
Why is difficult, i used to be put off the game because of the length of time and it took me a while to get used to it but i love it now. And for those who say it is complicated, i agree, i dont understand it properly now (i've tried reading the rules on fouls, so many!) and i've watched for 3 years (saying the concept is simple is a rubbish argument, you could say that about loads of sports)
P.S. Wilkinson is on fire!

But back to the initial discussion:
I think NFL safeties and cornerbacks could do worse than to watch how rugby players tackle, but that said is there anyone in Rugby that has the speed of a Chris Johnson or Ted Ginn?

Id still back the quickest NFL players over the quickest Rugby players in a 100m sprint.
